Online career programme for postdocs
"Postdoc Career Success" is a programme of practical training and mentoring delivered once a year to support the development of Uppsala University's early career researchers. The course introduces skills and tools you can apply immediately in your daily work. The core material of 15 online modules (e-classes) in English is spread over seven months.

About the course
Target group
The target group is researchers with a doctoral degree (PhD), who have not yet obtained a permanent/tenured position at the university. Postdocs across all disciplines at Uppsala University are welcome to apply.
Aim
The aim is to provide motivation and support to help you develop your own career, and make the most of each of your roles and projects. The resources you explore as part of the course will equip you to make the fullest contribution and accelerate your progress, wherever your career choices take you.
Content
The programme tackles career planning and pathways, and addresses essential skills including managing time, people and projects; publishing strategies; improving productivity; initiating partnerships, attracting funding; and building networks. Cost and conditions
The course is centrally funded and free of charge for the participants.
When you sign up for the course you commit to;
- Notify us before the course start if you cannot attend
- Actively participate in the course
- Book the mentoring conversation that is included in the course
If you don’t fulfill the commitment your group will be charged with the full course fee of 3000 SEK.
Bear in mind that once you have signed up and been offered a place that place is allocated to you and if you don’t use it, no one from the waiting list can use it instead.

Format
E-classes
The core material of 15 online modules (e-classes) in English is spread over seven months, with one new eclass released every two weeks.
You can complete the eclasses wherever you are, when and how it best suits you (online, downloadable PDF or audio versions). Once an eclass is published, you have unlimited, ongoing access to it and all the other programme resources. Each e-class is estimated to take between 1-2 hours to complete.
Live webinars, educational material, individual career advice and peer mentoring
The modules, combined with online educational material, live webinars, individual career advice and peer mentoring online is tailored to keep the benefit of personal contact while offering flexibility for researchers working full time. Participants get the benefit of engaging directly with the course leaders at PostdocTraining and other Uppsala colleagues taking part in the programme.
