Ekonomispelet för prefekter/motsv., chefer och ledare
This is an introductory course (in Swedish) on finance for heads of department and others with managerial responsibilities at Uppsala University. The university’s in-house finance game Ekonomispelet provides participants with an overall understanding of the organisation from a financial perspective. Basic financial concepts are given concrete meaning by simulating events in a board game, translating them into financial terms and interpreting them in reports. The course, which takes place over two days, teaches about fundamental financial concepts in general and the economic structure of the university in particular.

About the course
Target group
This course is directed at heads of department (or the equivalent), research leaders, directors of studies and others with management and leadership responsibilities concerned with finances.
Heads of department and acting heads of department are given priority. Therefore, while other leaders are welcome to apply, we cannot give definite confirmation of enrollment until registration closes.
Aim
The aim is to help participants understand the financial language and to explain basic financial concepts. The overarching aim is to equip the participants with the knowledge they need to make the best possible decisions. Ekonomispelet isn't about winning – it's about using your resources intelligently.
Objectives
After the course we hope the participants will:
• have an overview and an understanding of the financial workings of Uppsala University ant their own departments
• understand the language of financies
• find ways to plan and follow these operations

Format
This foundational course in the “language of finance” consists of short presentations dealing with concepts such as items in income statements and balance sheets, financing, co-funding and joint costs.
These presentations are interlaced with sessions of playing a board game, Ekonomispelet, in which participants sit around a game board and play three different games over the course of two days. Typical events are simulated on the board, translated into financial terms and interpreted in financial reports by the participants.
