Temporary home work

The main rule is that you must carry out your work on university premises. Decisions on temporary work at another location, e.g. from home, are made by the head of department/manager/equivalent based on the needs of the activity and based on an individual assessment.

The employer has the main responsibility for the work environment (including follow-up) even when working temporarily at another location. Those who work at another location are responsible for pointing out any shortcomings in the work environment to the head of department/equivalent.

Occupational injury insurance for temporary home work

AFA insurance also applies to temporary home work. The insurance coverage for occupational injuries covers accidents due to work and not accidents at home. Unlike work at the workplace, the accident must be directly related to the work to be performed.

It is recommended that employees who work at home have leisure time accident insurance. Occupational injuries and incidents that occur in connection with working at home must be reported in accordance with current procedures. If an employee works temporarily from their home country, the occupational injury insurance is valid for a maximum of three weeks. It is therefore important that temporary home work only occurs within Sweden so that an employee does not risk being without insurance cover. For business trips or URA, other insurance policies apply.
