Fossil-free Energy

Uppsala University has substantial breadth in energy research. In addition to research on renewable energy, such as hydropower, wind power, solar energy and wave power, the research also encompasses areas such as nuclear and geothermal energy, as well as energy solutions avoiding fossil fuels for transport purposes.

The scientific challenges and focus areas fall within the development of next generation technologies for energy conversion and storage. The goal is to achieve higher effectiveness, longer life, reduced environmental impact from production processes and materials, and lower production costs through scalable design solutions.
