Expo Carolina – explore the collections

The exhibition showcases the evolution of writing through the centuries, the origin of book printing and the dissemination of scientific discoveries in printed form. Through historical documents you gain an understanding of the development of society and democracy in past centuries.
From the Rising of the Sun – The O collection at Uppsala University Library
On display until further notice
Some of the most sacred, oldest, and most precious manuscripts at Uppsala University Library are written in Arabic, Sanskrit, Pali, Ottoman Turkish, Persian, Tibetan, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ethiopic. This exhibition shows a selection from these manuscripts, in what today is known as the O Collection at Uppsala University Library.
Codex argenteus
Codex argenteus – Latin for "Silver Book" – is Sweden's most valuable book and one of the world's most famous manuscripts.
Carta Marina
Carta Marina was printed in Venice 1539. It was the first map that represented the Nordic countries in a more-or-less correct way.
