Request interlibrary loans to Almedalen Library

Almedalen Library has the option of ordering material from other libraries outside Gotland, this is called interlibrary loans. We follow the National Library of Sweden’s recommendations for interlibrary loans. Media available at Almedalen Library or any of the public libraries on Gotland cannot be ordered as an interlibrary loan. This applies to students, researchers and employees at Uppsala University.

Materials that can be requested

• Printed books that are not held at Almedalen Library or any public library in Gotland.
• Paper copies of individual articles.

Materials that cannot be requested

• Printed books that are held at Almedalen Library. This also applies to books that are out on loan, only available on site in the Library, or only available in e-book format.
• E-books.
• Reading room loans or other types of reference material cannot be ordered as interlibrary loans.
• A complete issue of a journal.

Ordering interlibrary loans

You need to have a library card at the libraries on Gotland and register a library account in Libris to be able to order interlibrary loans. To borrow in Libris, log in to your Libris account and click "Order" on the book you want to request. Choose whether you want loans or copies. When ordering copies, you also need to agree to pay according to our price list (see below).

Search and request books/article copies

Delivery time

It is difficult to say anything generally about the delivery time. It can take anything from a few days to 2 weeks. Books from foreign libraries often take longer. Copies of articles are often delivered faster than books.

Interlibrary loans and picking up material

You will receive a message when your interlibrary loan has arrived. The interlibrary material remains on the reservation shelf for 2 weeks. Interlibrary loans are collected and borrowed at the information desk, at the library you have chosen as the collection point. The lending library determines the loan period. Copies to employees at Uppsala University Campus Gotland are sent by internal mail.

Fees for interlibrary loans

We primarily order books from Nordic libraries. These orders are free of charge.

If the book is not available in the Nordic countries, a cost will be added. In that case, we will contact you and ask if you still want to order the book. The cost of article copies or non-Nordic interlibrary loans is added to your library account. You pay when you collect your order.
