Call for nominations for the Photon Science Award

The Center for Photon Science at Uppsala University awards the "Uppsala Photon Science Award", which we colloquially call the "Årets Ljushuvud-priset", to reward doctoral theses with particularly innovative use, development of photon science or particularly outstanding research results with photon science methods. Candidates for "Årets Ljushuvud" are recent PhDs from Uppsala University who completed their dissertation in the previous calendar year. For the 2024 award, the dissertation must have taken place in 2023.

Nominations for the award are to be sent as one pdf file to the Director of the Center for Photon Science, Olle Björneholm, no later than February 23, 2024. The nomination must contain a letter of motivation (max. 1 page), the thesis, as well as the nominee’s CV and contact details.

The award winner will be selected by the Board of the Center for Photon Science. The award ceremony will take place in connection to the Photon Day later in the spring, and the award consists of a diploma and a stipend.*

*The scholarship may be taxable depending on the award winner's form of employment.
