Rules and guidelines

In order for our days here at Ångström to feel as safe and pleasant as possible, there are rules and guidelines that it is important that we follow.

Creating a pleasant study environment together

We are thousands of people that move about at Ångström Laboratory every day. If we help each other out with a few simple things, we create good conditions for keeping our premises nice and tidy. We do this by

  • putting our chair up on the table when leaving a study place/classroom
  • putting furniture back if we have moved them to another place temporarily
  • bring our waste to the recycling bins
  • report an error as soon as we see something broken or not working properly.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited at all Ångström Laboratory's entrances (15 meters diameter), terraces och balconies. This applies to all types of smoking devices regardless of content (including e-cigarettes).

You can read more about these decisions in the decisions (110906: 9-10) and (140212: 19-10) by the Campus management board.

Drugs and alcohol

Drinking alcohol and using drugs in connection with work or teaching is not allowed at Uppsala University. Alcohol-free alternatives must be offered at parties and representation.

The use of alcohol or other drugs during leisure time must also not affect safety, efficiency and well-being in the workplace. You can read more about this in the decision Hantering av alkohol- och drogproblem vid Uppsala universitet.

Overnight stay

Staying overnight in the university's premises is prohibited. Uppsala University's permission to conduct education and current insurance coverage do not allow overnight stays in any form.

Victimization

Uppsala University does not accept any form of victimization. Victimization refers to repeated unjust or cruel actions that are directed at individual employees or students in an offensive manner that can lead to them being excluded from the workplace or the community of the department.

The university has guidelines on measures against victimization (only available in Swedish).

Harassment and discrimination

All employees and students at Uppsala University are responsible for maintaining a work environment free from all forms of discrimination and every manager and supervisor within the university has an obligation to ensure that any cases of harassment or sexual harassment are investigated and remedied.

Harassment is defined in the law as behavior that violates someone's dignity and that is related to one of the discrimination grounds gender, gender identity or expression, ethnic affiliation, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age.

In the law, sexual harassment refers to behavior of a sexual nature that violates someone's dignity.

You can read more in the document Guidelines for Dealing with Cases of Harassment under the Discrimination Act.

Guest parking

Only temporary visitors to any of the activities at the Ångström Laboratory, linked to Uppsala University, are entitled to the guest parking.
