Aims: 1) To evaluate the long-term effects of an exercise intervention on cancer-related fatigue (CRF), health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and maintenance of physical activity, and to determine predictors of these outcomes. 2) To evaluate the long-term health economic consequences of exercise during cancer treatment, in terms of societal costs, health outcomes including cancer recurrence/mortality, and cost-effectiveness.This application refers to 2- and 5-year follow-ups of an ongoing multi-center RCT, the Phys-Can study, evaluating the effects of exercise during 6 months on two different intensities, with or without supplementary behaviour change support (BCS) on CRF and HRQoL. The intervention was finalized in Nov 2018, with 600 participants undergoing adjuvant breast, prostate or colorectal cancer treatment. Data collection by questionnaire, physical fitness tests, activity monitors, medical records and registers is ongoing. This study will contribute with new knowledge about the main intervention outcomes and the role of BCS in maintaining physical activity. The health economy analyses will provide essential insights about exercise during cancer treatment and guide decision-makers to make informed prioritizations, taking into account hard outcomes such as cancer recurrence and mortality.
