Super ADAM @ ILL
Tidsperiod: 2019-01-01 till 2022-12-31
Projektledare: Björgvin Hjörvarsson, Uppsala universitet
Budget: 29 064 000 SEK
This application concerns the operation and development of a highly competitive neutron reflectometers, located at the best neutron reactor in the world: Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL). 70% of the time is reserved for Swedish users, while the remaining 30% is accessible for researchers in the ILL´s member states. This instrument gives Swedish researchers unique access to advanced neutron scattering. The access to the facility is granted through an evaluation process of submitted applications. The Super ADAM instrument is the only neutron scattering facility owned by the Swedish Research community. The Super ADAM project is therefore an important component for strengthening the Swedish competence on neutron scattering, through the operation of the instrument as well as the promotion of the utilisation of other sources and outreaching activities. It is therefore an important tool for increasing the expertise on neutron scattering. This proposal involves three universities, Uppsala University, Linköping University and Lund University as the leading partners.Besides the request for support for operating the infrastructure, the application also includes a request for support for a development programme on spin resolved off-specular scattering and magnetic reference layers. This involves both experimental component as well as development of analysis tools, not only useful for the utilisation of the instrument, but also of large value for the use of ESS in the decades to come.
