This project is in the area of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics. The main emphasis is on the development of new geometrical ideas and concepts originating from the modern string theory and the quantum field theories. Many interesting insights are arising when we try to unify geometrical notions with the ideas of quantum theory, e.g. localization techniques for path integrals, topological quantum field theory, mirror symmetry, vertex algebras etc. At the same time many calculation in quantum field theory require the application of advanced mathematical tools. Based upon his pervious works and experience the applicant would like to develop further some of the links between geometry and modern theoretical physics, in particular some aspects of supersymmetric gauge theories, the application of differential geometry in physics and vertex algebras. The special emphasis will be given to non-perturbative studies of quantum field theories using the modern geometrical tools, in particular such as localization techniques. This is an interdisciplinary project which lives on the border of theoretical physics and modern geometry.
