In 2013 an international conference about Caravaggio will be organized in Uppsala 11-12 April by Uppsala University and the Newman Institute, independent but in connection with a conference in Rome 15-16 April by Soprintendenza Speciale per il Patrimonio Storico, Artistico ed Etnoantropologico e per il Polo Museale della Città di Roma presenting two new volumes about Caravaggio´s technique. A round table discussion will be held in Rome 17 April at Accademia Nazionale di San Luca to conclude the conferences. This application concerns the conference in Uppsala. It concludes the on-going Caravaggio-seminar with focus on new Italian research with guest-lecturers as the leading researchers Dr Professor emerita Mina Gregori from the University of Florence and Fondazione Longhi in Florence, Dr Beatrice De Ruggieri and Dr Marco Cardinali collaborators with the Soprintendenza in Rome and museums worldwide. On 11 April Uppsala University holds a conference with papers concerning theorisation/retheorisation mainly. Next day the conference continues with the Newman Institute and Caravaggio´s religion as main theme. The aim in Uppsala is to overview the current situation and initiate future research. Proposed themes: Re/theorisation, religion, "i doppi", "i caravaggeschi", methodologies, connoisseurship, cultural transfer, sociocultural contexts, mentality readings, contemporary Rome, Naples, Sicily, Malta.,
