The new possibilities offered by third-generation and soon fourth-generation synchrotron radiation sources (like MAX IV) and high-resolution electron energy analysers allow one to acquire fundamental information on the reactivity properties of isolated species, in particular in photochemical processes. Photofragmentation processes can be followed, with possibility e.g. to investigate upper atmosphere chemical process of environmental interest. Dynamical studies are nowadays feasible also for molecules adsorbed on surfaces. I intend to perform experiments at MAX IV on isolated atoms and molecules with photoemission, XAS and XES. Furthermore, we have built a new apparatus, REBECCA (Rotatable Electron spectrometer Based Electron Coincidence ion Coincidence Apparatus) devoted to multicoincidence experiments. This system is based on a new design including a hemispherical-type of analyser with large angular acceptance and good kinetic energy resolution. For a molecular dissociation process, all ionic fragments and relative to those the energy and angular distribution of all emitted electrons can be pinned down at the same time. The possibilities offered by performing such a complete experiment are enormous. The new apparatus is now fully operational, and I intend to perform experiment with it at MAX IV. The requested financial support will allow me to fully develop my research lines, and to re-build and expand my research group.
