Uppsala University is setting up a chair in artificial intelligence (AI). It will be funded with SEK 15 million, over five years, by the Kjell and Märta Beijer Foundation. The focus of the professorship will be on AI as a research tool.
“One outcome of our many years’ close collaboration with Uppsala University has been the Beijer Laboratory for Gene and Neuro Research. Now we’re aiming to expand our collaboration by providing support in an exciting new scientific field,” says Anders Wall, Chairman of the Kjell and Märta Beijer Foundation.

Backing for new cardiac research environment

Thanks to a donation from the Ålandic businessman Anders Wiklöf, Uppsala University can invest in a new cardiac research environment based on data from large-scale population registers and biobanks. Johan Sundström, cardiologist and Professor of Epidemiology at Uppsala University, is to head the research environment, which will be named “the Anders Wiklöf Institute of Cardiac Research”.
