How did you choose your programme?
– I found myself interested in photo editing when I was in high school. For this reason, I decided to delve into the image analysis field in the third year of my Bachelor’s studies in Computer Science to learn more about related topics. Ever since then, I have been fully indulged in this fascinating domain and can’t wait to dive deeper into it!

What is it like to be an international student?
– Regarding daily life, it is very fun and fresh, as there are also a lot of international students from other countries I can make friends with. In the matter of the education system, is challenging in the beginning since there are a lot of seminars, “flipping” classrooms, and group projects on a bigger scale. Which is not that common to see in my country.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– I’m having my best campus life ever! There are a lot of wonderful people who are the most kind, compassionate, and supportive individuals I’ve ever seen. Moreover, I enjoy my study a lot, since the teachers are working hard on delivering high-quality teaching materials and designing lab works that are challenging, but also practical and interesting.

Describe the student life
– In our spare time, my friends and I have a lot of fun joining the student union and student nation’s activities During the busy study periods, we are usually bonded more like a family as we work together from dusk till dawn. And afterwards, we might head to the nation’s pub to celebrate our achievements. Overall, I truly appreciate having excellent teammates with who I can go through all the ups and downs together.

Where is the best place to study?
– The cafeteria with the Espresso house coffee machine at Campus Angstrom. It’s quite cosy. Occasionally, there are people playing beautiful melodies on the piano, which makes the place even more delightful.

When I started the programme, I had an interest in working with self-driving cars. During the course of the programme, I have become more interested in continuing with a PhD.

Why did you choose this programme?
– Partway through my engineering degree, I started thinking about studying a master's degree in machine learning because I was interested in image analysis. When I looked around, I found this programme, which was a great fit as it focuses on image analysis and machine learning.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– That there are many different programmes so you meet a lot of people from different specialisations. Since I grew up in Uppsala, where the university is part of the city's personality, it is fun to take part in the university life I have previously only observed.

What is most challenging?
– The hardest part is prioritising what needs to be done right now and what can wait. I use a lot of lists to divide and plan tasks so that they feel manageable. Specifically, I use the ToDo app where you can make a list for the day of items from other lists.

Name three things you are doing this week!
– I have just started writing my master's thesis at Scania and this week I will have a kick-off presentation for the employees in the department. Since we work a lot on our own during the master's, I am planning a "fika" for my programme for next week. I will also go for a long walk with my dog as I've missed it due to an intense start of the master.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?

Favourite place in your student city?
– Wow, it's hard to choose one, I would say the whole area around the castle and cathedral, it feels like Uppsala to me.

– The last two years we have had a luciafika within the programme, which I hope will live on as a tradition.

– Since I am in my last semester, I will answer this. It is study place 3311 in campus gamla torget.

How did you choose your programme?
– For me, the Master's programme in Image Analysis and Machine Learning was a natural continuation of my studies in artificial intelligence. The programme gives me the opportunity to continue deepening my knowledge in a dynamic and exciting area, which also fits well with my personal interests. Uppsala's active student life was also an advantageous factor in choosing the program.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The dedication of the lecturers and lab assistants really contributes to a more positive everyday life during the studies. It has also been rewarding to hear about current research in such a fast-moving field. In addition to the academic side, it has been enriching to meet and get to know people from different parts of the world and learn about their cultures and perspectives.

What is most challenging?
– Studying can easily take over when there is a lot to do and stress can become a challenge. For me, it has been necessary to pay attention to my own needs in order to create a healthy and productive study routine.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– I want to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to contribute meaningfully to ongoing developments.

Describe the student life / What is your best experience so far?
– There is something for everyone! Whether you're someone who likes to have a coffee with your friends, end your day in a pub or spend your Tuesday night out on a dance floor, there's always something going on. Then there are also events such as sittings, gasques and balls at the castle to look out for!
