WELCOME PROGRAMME AUTUMN 2020
Arrival desk at Stockholm Arlanda Airport
Uppsala University will have an arrival desk set up at Arlanda Airport on Thursday 20 August between 9am and 9pm and Friday 21 August between 9am and 9pm.
The desk is located outside the customs service in Terminal 5.
Please note that if you arrive at any other terminal you will need to go to Terminal 5 to meet us. While the arrival desk is open, we will offer a complimentary shuttle service from Arlanda Airport to Uppsala. The shuttle service from Arlanda Airport will drop students off at the Welcome Centre in Uppsala (at the Segerstedt Building).
Welcome Centre in Uppsala
Uppsala University will have a Welcome Centre set up in Uppsala, at the Segerstedt Building. The Welcome Centre will be open on Thursday 20 August between 10am and 10pm and Friday 21 August between 10am and 10pm.
Services at the Welcome Centre include:
- Uppsala University Housing Office for keys and contracts for most housing areas (only for students who have been offered housing through the Uppsala University Housing Office)
- Welcome packages
- Shuttle services to housing areas
- Student Internet Account (requires formal ID, take your passport with you)
- Temporary student ID
Staff from the Housing Office and the International Office, as well as student volunteers, will be on hand at the Welcome Centre. The Segerstedt Building is located at Dag Hammarskjölds väg 7.
Practical information for all new international students
On Wednesday 26 August between 10am and 1pm, practical information sessions will be held to help introduce you to life in Sweden and at Uppsala University. Information about the programme and various speakers will be made available shortly.
Orientation Week activities will be held between Saturday 22 August and Sunday 30 August. The orientation programme is organised by the International Committee which is a student run organisation. All new international students are welcome to join activities organised by the International Committee. Orientation will be held between during the first week of the semester. The programme will be published on the International Committee website.
Exchange students to Uppsala University may arrive through agreements administered by departments at the university or by the Division for Internationalisation. You should have a contact person who will provide you with information about activities arranged specific for each department or by the Division for Internationalisation.
Welcome Reception and Fair
On Friday 28 August between 11am and 3pm, you are invited to a welcome reception and fair at the University Main Building. Here, you will be formally welcomed to the university, and will be able to meet representatives from the various student nations, unions and other organisations relevant to students. More details about the event will be published shortly.
Guided bus tours
Every year at the start of the autumn semester guided tours are organised for newly arrived international students at Uppsala University. The tours are a great opportunity to see and explore different areas in and around Uppsala. The tours will be held at various times throughout August, September and possibly October, and mainly on weekends. The full schedule, and information about ticket prices, will be available in June.
