Nuclear energy and fusion

The University’s research on nuclear energy focuses on nuclear fuel and experimental methods for studying properties of nuclear fuel. The knowledge can be used for nuclear fuel diagnostics but also for nuclear safeguards, in other words, ensuring that nuclear material is used in accordance with international treaties. There is also research on nuclear reactors, for example research applicable to fourth generation nuclear energy.

In fusion research, the focus is on neutron spectrometers with experimental operations linked to international facilities. There is also materials research at the University linked to the special demands of fusion and fission applications.
