Biobank Sweden

Biobank Sweden is a national biobanking infrastructure available regionally, which has been established through collaboration of healthcare and medical services, academia, the private sector and patient organisations. The infrastructure aims to provide Sweden with the best conditions for care and research in biobanking, both nationally and internationally. Biobank Sweden also facilitates the application of the Swedish Biobank Act. Regions and universities with medical faculties have commissioned and support this work. Uppsala University administers the part of the infrastructure funded by the Swedish Research Council. The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency, support Biobank Sweden’s work through Swelife, the Swedish government’s strategic innovation programme.

The Council for Research Infrastructures (RFI) funds this research infrastructure, which the Swedish Research Council considers to be in the national interest.
