Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC)

Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC) is a Nordic collaboration for common e-infrastructure solutions. Established in 2012, NeIC is part of the NordForsk organisation, which supports collaboration of Nordic countries on research and research infrastructure. NeIC provides the distributed Tier-1 service within WLCG (distributed computational infrastructure providing production and analysis environments for experiments at the Large Hadron Collider accelerator at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research).

A second role for NeIC is to explore, evaluate, develop and deploy innovative infrastructure services in response to the strategic priorities in the area of e-infrastructure and the needs of the national e-infrastructure providers, their users and selected ESFRI projects of joint Nordic interest. NeIC e-infrastructure projects are collaborations on the building blocks for the future capabilities and NeIC is NordForsk’s main tool to implement the Nordic eScience Action Plan 2.0.

The National infrastructure for supercomputing in Sweden (NAISS) serves as the Swedish node in NeIC.

The Council for Research Infrastructures (RFI) funds this research infrastructure, which the Swedish Research Council considers to be in the national interest.
