Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR)

The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) is an accelerator facility for nuclear, hadron and ion physics. The facility is under construction next to the GSI research facility in Darmstadt, Germany. Construction is taking place as part of an international convention signed by Sweden in 2010. Swedish researchers and Uppsala University participate in building the facility and play an active role in three of the collaborations developing and constructing the experiments at FAIR: SPARC/APPA, AGATA/NUSTAR and PANDA.

The Council for Research Infrastructures (RFI) funds this research infrastructure, which the Swedish Research Council considers to be in the national interest.
