ELIXIR

ELIXIR is a distributed European research infrastructure for the life sciences aimed at making biological data and analytical tools available over the long-term. ELIXIR has nodes in 23 countries and unites Europe’s leading national bioinformatics organisations. Operations are coordinated from a central hub located at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in the United Kingdom at Hinxton. It coordinates and develops infrastructure for the life sciences and provides biological data (including tools to analyse the data), data storage and computation resources, development of methods and standards for this, and related advanced training. Sweden is part of ELIXIR through the National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS), which serves as the Swedish node.

The Council for Research Infrastructures (RFI) funds this research infrastructure, which the Swedish Research Council considers to be in the national interest.
