DLC thin insulator coatings for transmission systems

The project focuses on development of thin diamond-like carbon (DLC) based protective coatings on insulator surfaces and on fast, cost-effective process of their deposition. The project aims to prevent the deteriorating effects of corona flashovers/arcs on insulator components in high voltage transmission systems. The project will reduce costs in the energy value chain by preventing insulator degradation and by using environment friendly high-rate deposition process.
