All electric vehicles would provide several great advantages for society of which lower energy consumption and less emissions are two. A flywheel acting as energy storage and a power handling device, placed between the primary energy storage (the battery) and the propulsion motor in the vehicle, would be able to handle the high power to and from the wheels, needed to give the desired performance to the vehicle. An all electric driveline would increase the energy efficiency of the vehicle, as well as the safety, life time and overall performance of the battery. Another advantage is the opportunity of fast charging that the flywheel is giving, provided that its energy storage capacity is high enough.
