Advanced methods for reliable and cost efficient image processing in bio-medical applications
Time period: 2014-02-15 to 2014-03-01
Project leader: Natasa Sladoje
Type of award: Project grant
Total fundning: 8 950 SEK
Purpose and goal: In medical image processing, methods that maximally utilize information present in images and transcend limitations of poor image quality, are of great importance. Dr. Sladoje has had great success in development of a theoretical framework for representing and treating image information. The project supported Dr. Sladoje´s visit to the Centre for Image Analysis (CBA) and provided access to relevant problems that can benefit from the developed framework and an environment of international top level researchers. All goals of the project were fulfilled according to the plan. Expected results and effects: The main result is the prepared and submitted VINNMER Marie Curie Incoming grant application. If approved, the grant will provide significant advancement of Dr. Sladoje´s scientific career, give new experiences in work with challenging applications, and contribute to the multidisciplinarity of her research profile. The collaboration will contribute to the advancement of several research projects conducted at CBA by utilization of qualitatively new solution to observed problems. Approach and implementation: As planned, Dr. Sladoje visited CBA between 15th of February and 2nd of March, 2014. Contacts with leading experts in biomedical image processing at CBA were established, and specific research tasks and goals for the grant application were set. All necessary details for the application, both scientific and administrative ones, were well clarified and resolved. A high quality proposal was prepared and submitted.
