About the course

In order to manage our limited water resources in a sustainable way, we have to understand the hydrological cycle and its processes, and how these processes are affected by human activities. This course gives a broad introduction to hydrology. With the catchment area as a starting point, the most important components in the water cycle are studied. Basic methods for measuring and estimating these components are presented and applied, both theoretically and in the course participant's field studies. Based on case studies, methods for water management and how different stakeholders can cooperate in establishing a watershed management plan, are discussed.
