Background

Uppsala University Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt has decided to allocate funds for scholarships targeting researchers from Ukraine. The purpose of these scholarships is to be able to offer researchers sanctuary and enable them to spend time in a research environment.

The scholarships are awarded following a decision and must be preceded by an application from the hosting head of department or equivalent. Applications and decisions are made as they are received.

In order to be eligible for a scholarship, an undertaking from the head of department or equivalent to host the scholarship holder is also required, which means that the department will bear the indirect expenses incurred such as for a room, workplace, computer, etc. The undertaking also means that the department is able to provide human resources who can support the researcher in various matters.
