Travelling to Uppsala and Visby

To Uppsala by air

Stockholm Arlanda International Airport is the airport closest to Uppsala. It is located between Uppsala and Stockholm, 35 km south of Uppsala.

From Arlanda Airport, you can continue to Uppsala with either the airport buses, taxi or direct trains.

Stockholm Skavsta Airport and Bromma Stockholm Airport are other airports located one to two hours from Uppsala.

To Uppsala by train

A number of trains from the continent have Stockholm as their final destination. In Stockholm you can change to the local train to Uppsala (SJ Regional or SL Commuter Trains).

You can plan your trip and get updated information on bus cards and tickets at Upplands lokaltrafik (UL).

NOTE: Cash is not accepted on the bus, you can only pay with credit card or using the UL app. Bus tickets are also sold at the travel center at the railway station.

Travelling to Gotland

We would like stress that Gotland is an island in the Baltic Sea, and it will take time to travel to Gotland from the Swedish mainland. The majority of people travelling to Gotland take one of Destination Gotland’s high speed ferries. These ferries depart from Nynäshamn and Oskarshamn regularly, and travel time is approximately three hours.

There are also flights from Stockholm Arlanda and Bromma to Visby Airport.

To get from Arlanda to Gotland, catch a bus or train to Stockholm’s Central Railway Station. From there you can take a bus to Nynäshamn. For more information, including ferry schedules and prices, please see Destination Gotland.
